A Miniature Acoustic-Wave Bandstop Filter with a Broad Passband

Abstract
This paper presents a highly miniature bandstop filter (BSF) using surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonators with a broad passband, designed with a bridged <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{T}$</tex> network topology. The proposed BSF minimizes circuit components while achieving a significantly higher fractional bandwidth (FBW) compared to conventional SAW-based BSFs. The device features a compact size of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$1.9 \times 5.3 ~\text{mm}^{2}$</tex> and delivers a measured FBW of 2.7 % at a center frequency of 720 MHz. The BSF achieves high rejection with minimum and maximum values of 23.9 and 44.6 dB, respectively, while maintaining an insertion loss of less than 2.7 dB across a wide passband from DC to 6 GHz.
