Abstract
Ganna Vasylivna Zakrevska (1894–1974) was a researcher of the Quaternary large mam-mals of Ukraine and of the geological structure, geomorphology, tectonics, and mineral resources of various regions of the country, primarily its northern part. Throughout her entire scientific career, until her emigration to Canada, she worked at the Institute of Geo-logical Sciences (Kyiv), progressing from a postgraduate researcher to the director of the Institute. Ganna Vasylivna successfully combined research work with teaching: she deliv-ered a course in physical geography at the Kyiv Pedagogical Institute (now the Ukrainian State University named after Mykhailo Drahomanov) and a course in field geology at the Kyiv Mining and Geological Institute. The theriological research of Ganna Vasylivna fo-cused on the study of Quaternary wild boars, bison, and deer. A special place in her scien-tific work is devoted to the investigation of the skeleton of Mammuthus trogontherii Pohlig, 1855.
