Bu derleme, ruh sağlığının önemli bir bileşeni olan psikolojik dayanıklılığı, suç işlemeye giden süreçte, cezaevi sürecinde ve cezaevi sonrası topluma yeniden uyum sürecinde olacak şekilde mahkûmlar özelinde ele almakta ve mahkûmların dayanıklılık düzeylerinin çeşitli faktörler ile ilişkisini kapsamlı bir şekilde incelemektedir. Psikolojik dayanıklılık, bireylerin stres, travma ve zorlayıcı yaşam koşullarıyla başa çıkma kapasitelerini ifade eden, disiplinler arası bir kavram olup, dinamik ve çok boyutlu bir yapıya sahiptir. Dolayısıyla, bu derlemede kavramın karmaşıklığı göz önünde bulundurularak, cezaevi öncesi, sırası ve sonrasındaki süreçler kapsamlı bir şekilde değerlendirilmiştir. Böylece gelecek araştırma, program ve müdahalelere rehberlik yapmak da amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, dayanıklılığın kavramsallaştırılmasına yönelik girişimler detaylandırıldıktan sonra, çeşitli veri tabanları ve dizinlerden faydalanarak, cezaevi koşullarının zorlayıcı doğası, sosyodemografik özellikler, işlenen suç türü, baş etme stratejileri ve sosyal destek ile ilişkisini ele alan çalışmalar incelenmiştir. Bunu takiben, mahkûmların dayanıklılık düzeylerini artırma ve cezaevi sonrası yeniden uyumu desteklemeye yönelik özelleştirilmiş müdahale ve rehabilitasyon programlarının geliştirilmesine yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.
