Abstract
L’Homme Armée est une œuvre pour le moins singulière, autant dans la bibliographie de Frédéric Coché que dans la bande dessinée en général. Pour cet album, l’auteur mêle deux pratiques artistiques dissemblables, l’eau forte et la peinture à l’huile, et use d’une imagerie épique hétéroclite et symbolique. Mais si cette histoire prend les airs d’une épopée, nous allons voir que de nombreux indices contreviennent à ce genre, pour finalement déplacer le travail épique au niveau de la plasticité et de l’intericonicité des images.
