Abstract
Abstract In this chapter we make use of scripture and experience as sources of knowledge, and examine how knowledge is transferred, to come to a better understanding of the mentor and protégé relationship in the context of ministry practice, especially in relation to mutual wellbeing. We do so in three parts. First, we look at a key trait and discipline for any mentor: humility. We then describe the process of knowledge impartation between the Apostle Paul (mentor) and Timothy (protégé) by conceptualizing the types of knowledge transferred from mentor to protégé. Finally, we offer an invitation to become a protégé and to embody the wisdom of the mentor and live this embodiment out in the world. The chapter concludes with a summary of the mentor and protégé relationship from the various biblical narratives.
