Laser-Synthesized TiC Colloidal Variants In their Research Article (10.1002/adma.202509060), Farman Ullah, Kevin P. Musselman, and co-workers synthesize colloids of TiC in a clean, waste-free process. A laser beam interacts with TiC in acetonitrile, generating a strong electric field that breaks the Ti–C covalent bonds formed by the hybridization of C_p and Ti_d orbitals. The surface and elemental composition of the TiC colloids are tuned through laser-induced carbon nucleation and nitridation, maximizing light-colloid interactions.
