Abstract
Cet article présente les premiers résultats et pistes de réflexion d’un projet de recherche portant sur l’habiter polytopique et l’expérience mobilitaire lors du service militaire suisse (1990-2010). En appréhendant le service militaire comme une mobilité contrainte, cette recherche entend étudier le rôle des multi‑localités vécues dans la constitution des identités spatiales des personnes enquêtées. Fractionné en différentes périodes, le service militaire suisse implique-t-il des mobilités multiples vers et autours des lieux du service, qui sont autant d’expériences potentiellement constitutives d’un habiter polytopique dans le parcours des conscrits ? Malgré des modalités d’incorporation et des expériences militaires globalement uniformisées (expérience de l’école de recrue notamment), on observe de fortes différences sur la place du service militaire dans les mobilités ultérieures et actuelles des personnes enquêtées. Ce sont ces mobilités post‑service que nous présentons au travers de deux cas, à partir desquels nous formulons une proposition de reconsidération du concept d’habiter polytopique. Dans une moindre mesure, l’enquête permet également de démontrer l’intérêt d’une « géographie du fait militaire ».
