Abstract
Dans ces extraits d’interviews de joueurs de oud issus du monde arabe, ces derniers décrivent les parcours qui les ont vus partir de leurs villes et pays natals du Sud vers l’Europe à la rencontre d’autres musiciens occidentaux. Ils témoignent des différentes représentations qui accompagnent leurs pratiques musicales à la croisée des musiques maqamiques propres au oud et d’autres traditions musicales occidentales. Ces représentations sont le théâtre d’une tension plus ou moins grande entre des entités qui semblent s’opposer : l’identité (« nous », « la musique arabe », « le maqam ») et l’altérité (« l’autre », « la musique occidentale », « la musique tonale »). Comment décrivent-ils leurs cheminements entre ces deux entités, en parallèle à leurs différentes mobilités physiques ?
