Abstract
On ikinci yüzyılın sonlarında Bizans’taki iç çekişmeler Komnenos Hanedanı’nın 1185’te sona ermesine yol açtı. Ancak 1204’te Aleksios ve David Komnenos, Gürcü hanedanıyla ittifak kurarak Trabzon merkezli bir devlet kurdular. Aynı dönemde Latinlerin İstanbul’u işgali ve İznik Rum Devleti’nin direnişi, Trabzon’u zorluklarla karşı karşıya bıraktı. 1214’te David Komnenos’un ölümüyle Trabzon Rum İmparatorluğu Türkiye Selçuklularına tâbi oldu ve toprak kayıpları yaşadı. İki devletin ilişkileri, Karadeniz ticaret yollarının güvenliği ekseninde şekillendi. Selçuklu Sultanı I. Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev’in 1206’daki Samsun Seferi ve Sinop’a yönelik harekâtları, Selçukluların bölgesel ticaret stratejisinin parçasıydı. 1220’deki Moğol istilası, Cengiz Han’ın komutanlarının Kafkasya ve Karadeniz’in kuzeyine yönelen akınlarını ifade etmekte olup ticareti olumsuz etkilerken, Trabzon Rum İmparatorluğu’nun Kırım’da nüfuzu arttı. Buna karşılık Selçuklular Suğdak Seferi’ni düzenleyerek ticaret yollarında denetim sağlamaya çalıştı. Bu çalışma, iki devletin siyasi ve ekonomik ilişkilerini çatışma ve işbirliği bağlamında ele almaktadır.
