Abstract
Philadelphe de Gerde (1871-1952), poétesse et militante bigourdane, défend inlassablement la langue et la culture occitanes à travers poésie, théâtre et spectacles populaires. Après ses premiers recueils félibréens, elle s’éloigne du mouvement pour se consacrer à la valorisation de la Bigorre : danses, chants, costumes et théâtre amateur deviennent ses armes militantes. Ses pièces « Ed Virolet » et « Ed Pèpi » (années 1920) exaltent la langue, la foi et la tradition contre la modernité perçue comme décadente : le français, la mode urbaine et l’émancipation féminine y sont rejetés au profit d’un ordre social ancien.
