ABSTRACT On-demand webinar originally hosted jointly by the following SMTA Chapters: San Diego, LA-OC, Silicon Valley, & Arizona Chapters Overview: Since July 2006 SMT components and PCBs have been required to be Pb-Free for most commercial applications. Over the 10 plus years since then, as an industry, we have learned a lot about Pb-Free device and assembly reliability. There are three primary industry standards related to classification, handling, shipping, and storage of moisture/reflow sensitive ICs and other electronic devices. The most known outcome of these standards is a MSL (Moisture Sensitivity Level) rating for ICs. While MSLs are also used for other electronic devices, they may also include other restrictions via a PSL (Process Sensitive Level). To establish similar classification requirements for Non-IC SMT components, JEDEC, IPC and ECA formed task groups to write J-STD-075. The PSL incorporates temperature and other limitations for two solder processes, wave and reflow. Within IPC there are related standards for PCB Moisture handling. This is mainly covered by IPC 1602 The presentation will review recent updates, test requirements, classification levels, etc., within the current versions of J-STDs 020, 033, 075 and IPC 1601, plus the background behind the recent publication of J-STD-020F. Speaker Bios: Mumtaz Y. Bora is a Sr. Staff Packaging Engineer at pSemi for qualification of RFIC packages for mobile wireless, broadband and Automotive applications. She is a member of IPC standardization committees and contributes to the standards development. She is the VP of Communication for SMTA San Diego chapter and Co-chair of the SMTA Moisture Sensitive Devices Council. Mumtaz Y. Bora has a B.S. in Chemistry and Material Sciences from University of Mumbai, India and University of Ottawa, Canada. She has a Master of Science in Interactive Telecommunications from University of Redlands, California. Steve Martell is the manager of technical support services at Nordson T&I - Sonoscan, allowing him to work with companies and standards organizations on an international basis. He has a Mechanical/Ocean Engineering degree from URI and MBA from Chicago Booth. He Chairs IPC's B-10a Task Group since 1996. He received the IPC's President's Award in 2015, and other awards for his leadership of the joint IPC/JEDEC working group that developed J-STD-020, J-STD-033, J-STD-075, etc. He is also working with other international standards organizations, such as JEITA and IEC On Demand Webinar
