Abstract
ABSTRACT The thin, flexible and low cost nature of polymer-based electronic components such as polymer super-capacitors enable integration into many new applications where more expensive, rigid and brittle silicon-based counterparts are no longer compatible. However, there are many challenges yet to be addressed with these devices. Problems such as low energy densities must be overcome if these technologies are to be successful. In this work, we present recent advancements in the development of polymer-based hybrid energy system devices capable of storing harvested energy in a single standalone thin-film system. The design, architecture and fabrication of a fully integrated energy harvesting system is discussed and demonstrated.
