Abstract
Ulf Bernitz (1936-2022) var pionjär inom Europarätten i Sverige.Bland hans många viktiga insatser finns initiativet till Europarättslig tidskrift, som utkom med sitt första häfte 1998.Ulf skrev också den första ledarartikeln i ERT 1998, s. v-vii, vilken återpublicerades i ERT 2022, s. 9-11.Bakom tidskriften står Föreningen Europarättslig tidskrift, för vilken Ulf var styrelseordförande till dess han gick ur tiden.Ulf utbildade sig till jurist vid Stockholms högskola och nådde juris kandidatexamen 1959.De första åren efter examen tillbringade han traditionsenligt med tingstjänstgöring som ledde fram till att han utnämndes till fiskal vid Svea hovrätt, men han studerade också vidare vid New York University och erhöll en masterexamen där 1963.Det akademiska intresset blev styrande, och Ulf inledde sin forskarbana vid Stockholms universitet.År 1969 disputerade han på en avhandling om marknadsrätten, 1 ett verk som ännu imponerar trots att den materiella rättsutvecklingen sprungit ifrån det.Ulf förblev Stockholms universitet trogen och var fortsatt aktivt verksam där hela vägen fram till sin död sommaren 2022.En ny upplaga av läroboken Europarättens grunder 2 utkom på hösten samma år, och den tredje delen av hans triptyk om Sverige och Europarätten utkom 2023 under redaktion av Ulfs dotter, docent Hedvig Bernitz. 3 En fullständig förteckning över Ulfs omfattande vetenskapliga produktion är publicerad på hans webbplats www.bernitz.se,som finns fortsatt tillgänglig och också innehåller annan information om Ulfs verksamhet.
