Abstract
Le musée national de la Marine conserve un ensemble de photographies réalisées par Anita Conti lors de ses séjours dans plusieurs pays de l’ouest africain, au milieu du 20e siècle1. Elle y a notamment étudié les méthodes de pêche et de transformation du poisson, tout en cherchant à les développer. Les photographies qu’elle a réalisées, étudiées dans le contexte plus global de son travail, permettent d’en savoir davantage sur la nature de sa pratique de photographie observatrice, sur les objectifs qui sous-tendent ses missions, et sur les gestes techniques de la pêche à proprement parler. Deux ensembles sont étudiés dans le cadre de cet article : l’un concernant la pêche pratiquée par les Imraguens en Mauritanie, l’autre la pêche et la transformation du requin au Sénégal.
