L'un des défis majeurs auxquels l'Union européenne a été confrontée a été la désindustrialisation des années 70 et 80 et la dégradation urbaine qui a suivi. Le FEDER a été l’instrument principal pour promouvoir des programmes de régénération urbaine dans les villes affectées par le déclin industriel. À travers l’analyse d’un certain nombre de projets de revitalisation urbaine sélectionnés en fonction de leur capacité à refléter les thématiques propres aux différents cycles de programmation des Fonds structurels, l’article essaye d’évaluer la contribution de la réutilisation du patrimoine industriel aux plans de régénération des villes européennes.
