Le Conseil mondial du peuple russe, organisation créée en Russie en 1993, assure la coconstruction, par les acteurs politiques et religieux, du « monde russe », pensé comme espace civilisationnel contre les autres, et notamment contre les sociétés libérales et sécularisées occidentales. Il apparaît comme l’arène d’une coalition de discours nationalistes répondant à des agendas variés et s’inscrivant dans des traditions diverses. Le Conseil est aussi un lieu de tensions entre différents récits de justification pour la défense de la nation russe. Un langage nationaliste hypernormalisé, où les frontières du religieux et du séculier sont effacées, permet aux acteurs sociaux de mettre en scène leur loyauté à l’égard du pouvoir autoritaire tout en facilitant la coexistence de positions diverses.Cette étude sur le Conseil mondial du peuple russe contribue à l’étude de l’enchevêtrement du religieux et du politique dans la Russie poutinienne ainsi qu’au débat sur la nature séculière du nationalisme.
