Design of Conformal High Efficient Polarization Conversion Metasurface for RCS Reduction

Abstract
A new conformal polarization conversion metasurface (PCM) is designed to reduce radar cross-section (RCS). The design is simple and works effectively over a broad range of frequencies. The metasurface uses a double-head arrow structure and two inner circular are inside; a polyimide substrate with a thickness of 0.1 mm is employed. Simulations show that it achieves polarization conversion over an 8 to 12 GHz band, with an average polarization conversion ratio (PCR) above 90%. Such a high PCR allows for up to 10 dB RCS reduction across 80% of the frequency band compared to a perfect electric conductor (PEC). Broadband strong performance, and conformal capabilities useful for applications such as stealth surfaces, antennas, polarization-controlled devices, and platforms requiring flexible designs.
