A Dual-Layer Metal-Only Huygens' Metasurface Unit Cell for High-Power Applications
Bibliographic record
Abstract
This paper presents the design of a linearly polarized, metal-only Huygens' metasurface unit cell for flat lens antennas operating in the$5.1-6.3 \text{GHz}$frequency range. The proposed structure consists of an antisymmetric, double-layer metallic structure featuring a carefully engineered geometry to enable 360° phase control and high transmission efficiency, ensuring effective excitation of both electric and magnetic dipole resonances. Total thickness of the unit cell measures$0.038 \lambda_{0}$at 5.5 GHz (where$\lambda_{0}$is the free space wavelength). Thermal and powerhandling simulations under space conditions reveal the ability to handle input power levels up to 135 W per unit cell at 6 GHz while maintaining temperatures below the metal's melting point. Assuming uniform illumination, the overall power-handling capacity of the array is estimated to reach 54 kW for a$20 \times 20$array. These results underscore the suitability of the proposed unit cell for high-power wireless power transfer applications, where dielectric-based structures may experience breakdown or thermal degradation.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
