Abstract
As wireless healthcare technologies evolve, there is an increasing demand for compact and reliable communication systems to ensure the delivery of seamless services. This paper proposes a compact, badge-shaped, wideband implantable antenna designed for biomedical telemetry applications. The antenna features a simple meander-line patch and a slotted ground plane with a coaxial probe, providing a 50 -ohm impedance. It is simulated on a flexible Roger Duroid RT5880 substrate with a thickness of$\mathbf{0. 2 5 4 m m}$. The antenna's overall dimensions are$\mathbf{4. 5} \mathbf{m m} \times \mathbf{4. 5 ~ m m} \times \mathbf{0. 2 5 4 ~ m m}$, with a footprint size of of$\mathbf{5. 1 4} \text{mm}^{3}$, and it operates over a frequency range of$0.703-1.738 \text{GHz}(1.03 \text{GHz})$within industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band. Simulation results show that the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) for 1 g of bulk tissue is$89.7 \mathrm{W} / \text{kg}$which complies with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) safety limit with 1.8 mW maximum allowed power. The antenna's miniaturization and performance make it a promising candidate for biomedical implant applications.
