Abstract
This proposal is a personal narrative of a racialized immigrant librarian navigating a profession that often overlooks the nuanced realities of minoritized professionals. It explores way in which their lived experiences have shaped their approach to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within librarianship. Through moments of both struggle and serendipity, this narrative reflects on systemic inequities in hiring, retention, and leadership opportunities. The proposal highlights several serendipitous moments that deepened their understanding of marginalization, discrimination and the feeling of exclusion. By highlighting these critical encounters and experiences of marginalization this work aims to contribute to a broader conversation about meaningful EDI engagement at both personal and institutional levels.
