ABSTRACT The present paper tries to analyze, by means of a pilot study, the treatment validity or utility of two procedures for the evaluation-treatment of psychological disorders during childhood and adolescence. In other words, authors pretend to compare the intervention derived from a functional evaluation, adapted to client’s particularities, with a evaluation based on a structured diagnostic interview (Children’s Interview for Psychiatric Syndromes) (Weller, Weller, Teare & Fristad, 1999), with standardized components. Results obtained with each therapeutic program are analyzed in three different levels: percentage of treatment objectives reached by each intervention modality, percentage of therapeutic knowledge of parents and importance given by parents to the different factors that, supposedly, are responsible of therapeutic change. In general, both interventions are effective, although clinical differences exist that highlight the functional modality. BIBLIOGRAFÍA American Psychiatric Association (1995).
