Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This article analyzes the museum devices used in the safeguarding and transmission of metallurgical know-how in Musée national du Togo (MNT), during a data collection realized between the fall 2022 and the winter 2023 in the vein of a doctoral study. Through the use of methods like participant observation (MNT’s mediators and visitors), documentary research and semiotics, the study criticizes MNT’s museum devices and explores methods used in the mediation of intangible heritage in African, European and American museums. Results show that information and communication technologies have been good allies in intangible heritage’s mediation since the 2000s. Although digital divide is a restricting factor of digitalization’s maximum use in African museums, the article makes recommendations for an effective and efficient mediation of the metallurgical know-how adapted to MNT’s realities.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
