Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The imaginary of Rio de Janeiro was consolidated, throughout the 20th century, into a city associated with beaches, joy and two major events: Carnival and New Year's Eve. And, in the first quarter of the 21st century, the city has hosted several events with great international coverage, such as Rio+20, the World Cup and the Olympic Games. We are interested in understanding how this narrative of a city ‘ready’ to host events has been constructed through historical research, bibliographic review and documentary analysis. We also highlight the Covid-19 pandemic period and the prohibition of gatherings, impacting the event indutry, a major fator in the economy of Rio de Janeiro. However, due to the Covid19 vaccine, cities gradually returned to their routine. In June 2023, the end of the pandemic was declared and, although many initiatives did not survive the restrictions of that period, in Rio, major events have already exceeded pre-pandemic numbers.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
