Abstract
With the acceleration of climate change, the ecological transition is becoming a necessity. In this context, forest plantations are particularly encouraged. However, they raise questions from a landscape and environmental viewpoint, especially when they are planted with fast-growing species such as poplar and maritime pine. This article focuses on the plantations formed by these species. Research was carried out in the Centre-Val de Loire region. The aim was to investigate the existence of recreational activities, such as hiking, in or near plantations, and to analyze the representations of potential users. Research was based on a spatial analysis and, above all, interviews conducted in situ. It shows that hiking trails run alongside some of these plantations, without these guiding their routes. The hikers interviewed reveal a variety of views about plantations, ranging from neutrality to opposition or defense.
