En este art?culo sobre la escritura del exiliado nos proponemos elaborar una posici?n alternativa a aqu?lla que transforma el exilio en un sitio de disidencia - espacio deseado de libertad o estado necesario para la creatividad. Para ello nos concentra mos en el pathos del exilio y en algunas de las manifestaciones de sentimientos que surgen de esa experiencia traum?tica. En el desarrollo del estudio, hacemos un recorrido somero por la etimolog?a de la palabra y por dos de sus representaciones can?nicas. Luego enfrentamos las nociones de espacio y tiempo y c?mo ?stas son desestabilizadas en la obra de varios escritores y escritoras latino-canadienses. Un aspecto central de nuestro proyecto es el de recuperar la liminalidad del exilio ante los embates de una cr?tica que tiende a silenciar los traumas impl?citos en esta condici?n.
