Abstract
Durant la première moitié du XX e siècle, un réseau intellectuel où voisinent libéraux et chrétiens modérés agit sur les relations culturelles entre la France et le Québec francophone. Son repérage passe par la lecture d’écrits biographiques et un travail en archives, permettant de retracer les liens noués lors des déplacements à l’étranger. Avec le recul, émergent de ce réseau Edouard Montpetit et André Siegfried qui, sans être des chefs d’orchestre, jouent cependant un rôle de catalyseur. La problématique vise à se démarquer d’une approche trop strictement confinée à la recherche d’influences idéologiques, pour interroger les pratiques concrètes des acteurs. Elle met en évidence les logiques d’enchevêtrement, qui expliquent à la fois la force et la faiblesse de ce réseau.
