Si bien la autobiografia moderna no es la narrativa autoritaria centrada en la heteronormatividad de antes, el tratar del amor entre mujeres en este genero en lengua espanola todavia no es tarea facil. El pudor, la timidez o la flagrante autocensura por razones familiares, sociales o politicas han militado contra una expresion libre de la pasion amorosa. Y esto ha acarreado la consecuencia de que es mas facil descubrir la realidad lesbiana de una persona en su biografia postuma que verla celebrada por la autora misma en vida. Aqui se trazaran las codificaciones, autobioficciones y estrategias usadas por Carmen Conde en Espana y Maria Elena Walsh en Argentina para contar sus amores y desamores autobiograficamente.
