Abstract
Cette étude présente une classification des tourbières localisées dans la partie sud de la Jamésie. Cette classification se veut simple, adaptée à la photo-interprétation et applicable à plusieurs fins. Elle reconnaît trois niveaux de perception : les groupements végétaux, les unités morphologiques et les types de tourbières. Les 22 groupements végétaux retenus sont nommés et décrits à partir des espèces végétales dominantes et sous-dominantes d’un ensemble de stations. Ils sont identifiables par un observateur qui circule dans la tourbière et chaque groupement occupe une position précise le long de l’hydrosère. À partir des différents agencements de ces groupements, de la répartition des mares, de la structure végétale et de la proximité d’un plan d'eau, sont définies 12 unités morphologiques. Toutes ces unités se perçoivent par un observateur qui survole le territoire à faible altitude ou par un photo-interprète. À un niveau supérieur de synthèse, appréciable par un observateur situé à moyenne altitude, on identifie 6 types de tourbières, en regard de leur régime trophique et de leur position topographique. Enfin, une vue d’ensemble du territoire permet de reconnaître 5 régions de tourbières sur la base de la représentativité des unités morphologiques et des types de tourbières.
