Abstract
This article profiles efforts in Canada and the United States that are directed at deploying hydrogen and fuel cell technology. The Village partnership, the Fuel Cells Canada industry association, and the Hydrogen Highway are working in conjunction with the national government on efforts such as establishing fleets of fuel cell vehicles, retrofitting internal combustion engine buses to run on hydrogen, and building fueling stations along a 125-mile highway segment. In California, the public-private consortium California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP), is sponsoring two state hydrogen fueling stations and plans to have 300 fuel cell cars and buses on state roadways by 2007.
