Abstract
Dans un contexte de developpement durable, le Ministere des Transports du Quebec (MTQ) s’est engage a ameliorer son bilan environnemental en utilisant de nouveaux produits, en adoptant de nouvelles facons de faire et en modifiant ses normes sur les produits de marquage routier. Par ses actions, le Ministere est devenu un precurseur de nouvelles pratiques environnementales. Cet expose decrit brievement les caracteristiques des produits de marquage utilises actuellement et les normes environnementales adoptees et mises en vigueur recemment par Environnement Canada et Sante Canada. Nous en ferons ressortir les gains environnementaux qui decoulent de la diminution des emissions de composes organiques volatils (COV) des peintures de marquage et de l’elimination des chromates de plomb dans la fabrication des produits de couleur jaune. Nous discuterons ensuite des nouvelles normes portant sur les microbilles de verre utilisees lors des travaux de marquage, lesquelles obligent les fabricants a utiliser 90 % de residus de verre (preconsommation et postconsommation) et limitent l’utilisation de metaux lourds. Enfin, nous presenterons l'etat des connaissances sur les peintures de marquage a base d'eau, ferons un survol des essais realises sur le reseau routier quebecois et formulerons des recommandations quant a la venue de nouveaux produits tels les alkydes a basse teneur de COV.
