Abstract
FluMist (AstraZeneca Canada Inc.) est un vaccin vivant atténué conçu pour une administration intranasale et qui a récemment été homologué au Canada. Le vaccin pour 2010–2011 contient les mêmes souches que le vaccin inactivé actuel (A/California/7/2009 [H1N1], A/Perth/16/2009 [H3N2] et B/Brisbane/60/2008). Il est administré tous les ans, sous forme de vaporisateur nasal dans chaque narine. Chez les enfants, il pourrait être plus efficace que le vaccin inactivé, et sa relative commodité d'utilisation peut en faire une solution raisonnable pour certains enfants. Les personnes non enceintes et en santé de deux à 59 ans peuvent le recevoir. Il faut l'éviter chez les enfants atteints d'un asthme important ou qui ont une congestion nasale. Puisqu'il s'agit d'un vaccin vivant, il ne faut pas l'administrer à quelqu'un qui est atteint d'une immunodéficience sous-jacente ou d'une maladie chronique ou qui prend des salicylates. Il est présenté dans un vaporisateur sous forme de seringue préremplie contenant une dose pour chaque narine. Il n'est pas encore offert par les programmes subventionnés par le gouvernement, mais pourrait l'être en pharmacie.
