VOGUANT AU BEAU MILIEU DU CENTRE-VILLE DE MONT-RÉAL.Ouverture, transparence, lumière : voilà les mots d'ordre que se sont donnés les architectes canadiens (le consortium Patkau/Croft-Pelletier/Menkès Shooner Dagenais) pour la conception de l'édifice.On pourrait ajouter «hauteur» à ces lignes directrices, tant la Bibliothèque est conçue autour de l'idée d'ampleur et de perspective.Les cloisons de verre accentuent l'impression de profondeur, comme l'illustre ce vaste atrium, dans lequel voyagent les ascenseurs à travers les six étages de la Bibliothèque et où se croisent de grands escaliers de métal (photo 4).Ce qui frappe également, ce sont les différents points de vue sur la ville : côté est, la promenade donnant sur la rue
