Abstract
Since a new management team was brought to the helm at Canadian Pacific (CP) two years ago, the railway's commercial performance has started to transform, due to a program of cost cutting, a focus on quality and higher productivity. CP used to be regarded as the least efficient of North America's big Class I railways, and it is now on course to achieve the industry's lowest operating ratio before the end of 2014. The process involved in getting CP to this point is detailed in this article.
