L'obtention de nouvelles donnees d'intensite du champ magnetique, a partir d'echantillons de dykes canadiens d'âge compris entre 1000 et 2400 Ma, ont permis, pour cette periode, de doubler la base de donnees existante et d'indiquer un champ de faible intensite. Analyses dans le cadre de la base de donnees totale de paleointensite, ces resultats suggerent une evolution de l'intensite du dipole geomagnetique au cours du temps. Les resultats paleomagnetiques et isotopiques montrent que, pendant la glaciation marinoenne vers ca. 600 Ma, des depots glaciaires de Chine du Sud s'etaient formes a une paleolatitude equatoriale comme ceux d'Australie. Ils rnforcent ainsi l'hypothese de l'existence de glaciations globales pendant lesquelles la Terre est totalement englacee. La combinaison d'etudes isotopiques et paleomagnetiques s'est revelee etre un outil original et puissant tant pour les correlations stratigraphiques que pour la caracterisation de reaimantations
