Abstract
Toronto in recent years has experienced contentious politics, both local and provincial, that have interfered with the city's rail transit future, with modes set to compete against each other, as well as starts and stops to major infrastructure projects, which proved expensive. With a view to the importance of Toronto to Canada's passenger rail, this article presents an outlook of the city's rail future, preceded by a timeline with key events in its recent rail history.
