Abstract
L’exemple des evolutions ferroviaires en Amerique du nord, en particulier au Canada, propose une illustration interessante des processus en oeuvre dans les tentatives de restructuration de l’industrie et des reseaux ferroviaires de fret. Cette restructuration, basee sur une relation nouvelle entre les grands operateurs historiques et des operateurs de proximite appeles Shortlines, permet de mettre en evidence des caracteristiques qui peuvent eclairer les debats en cours en Europe.
