Abstract
Vancouver International Airport is investing in extensive networked digital video surveillance that records motion activity 24 hours a day. The airport is Canada's second busiest and consistently ranks among the most popular among travelers. The surveillance system is integrated with access control systems, item tracking systems, point of sale systems, and object tracking systems to add intelligence to the system. By digitizing the images, they can be analyzed for different elements by means of specialized software. It can be used to track travelers as they pass through the facility without detaining them unnecessarily or monitoring baggage remotely.
