Abstract
International Railway Journal focuses on a speech by Keith Heller, chief executive officer of Britain's EWS. Heller joined EWS, acquired by German Rail last November, in 2004 after serving with Canadian National Railway (CN), then EWS' parent company. During the annual Sir Robert Reid lecture at the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, Heller centered on the need to make best use of existing assets, and contrasted North American with British and European rail practices. He was only the second freight speaker to deliver the lecture.
