Abstract
Under the impact of globalization, the focus of interest in Canadian writing seems to have shifted towards a different concept within the inter-cultural paradigm, namely trans-culturalism. While multiculturalism emphasises the acceptance of ethnic and cultural difference, trans-culturalism refers to those attitudes which welcome cultural hybridity, cosmopolitanism and mixed or fragmented ethnic identities.
