Abstract
London's Heathrow Airport has developed a successful method of bird hazard management because of the serious safety concerns posed by large birds interfering with incoming and outgoing flights. The habitat in and around an airport is controlled to make it less desirable for birds to nest or breed. The dedicated bird hazard management team works closely with the Central Science Laboratory (CSL) to manage the Canada Geese population around the airport and monitor goose population within a six-mile radius by radar.
