Abstract
Cet article étudie le débat théorique entre les promoteurs et les opposants à la question d’intégration des normes du travail dans le commerce international. Pour les tenants de l’approche théorique défendant l’intégration de ces normes dans l’agenda du commerce international, on évoque les bienfaits d’une telle politique pour la croissance économique et le développement humain des pays en développement. Alors que dans la perspective de la deuxième approche théorique, on se méfie des visées protectionnistes des pays développés pour priver les pays en développement de l’un de leurs meilleurs avantages comparatifs, en l’occurrence le coût réduit de la main-d'œuvre. Ces deux approchent ne s’accordent pas non plus sur le lieu de traitement de ces normes (OMC Vs OIT) et de la force obligatoire qui s’y rattachent.
