Abstract
Metrolink in Los Angeles has expanded to six routes and 34,000 passengers a day since its start in 1992, making it possible to ride to San Diego on non-Amtrak trains (with transfers). Denver is undertaking one of the largest light-rail construction projects in years, a 19-mile, $1.2-billion line. San Jose and San Diego are both expanding, and GO Transit in Toronto broke its previous record for ridership with 40 million passengers in 2000.
