Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Border security between the United States and Canada around the Great Lakes basin is complicated. Approximately three-hundred thousand people and $1.5 billion in trade move through the regional border a year, so the border is critical to the economy while being challenging for national security efforts. Canada’s Marine Security Operations Center (MSOC) works to generate and disseminate vital maritime domain awareness information, and the two countries share information to maintain national security. Integrated border enforcement teams (IBETs), comprised of both American and Canadian law enforcement agents, work to synchronize combined operations. Partnership and collaboration help to strengthen the shared border.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
