Abstract
Canadian National Railways (CN), one of the largest railways in North America as well as one of the continent's six most profitable freight carriers, has contracted Siemens Transportation Systems for an integrated rail traffic control (ITC) system. The system' goal is to improve CN's operating efficiency. Siemens will equip CN's edmomton, Montreal, and Torornto control centers with the ITS which will provide seamless operation across CN's dark and signalled territory and also meet CN' exacting safety and reliability standards. The new traffic controls system will be based will be based on Siemens' Vicos platform customized to support CN's operating practices and manage CN's signalling equipment.
