The Road Safety Monitor 2013: Knowledge of Vehicle Safety Features in Canada

Abstract
Starting in 2011, the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF) has collected data on Canadian driver's familiarity with six vehicle safety features. These include electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TC), anti-lock brakes (ABS), brake assist (BA), brake override (BOR), and electronic brake force distribution (EBFD). The results from 2013 are presented in this report and compared with 2011 and 2012 results. In 2013, 35.5% of Canadian drivers were familiar with ESC, 51.1% with TC, 71.6% with ABS, 36.8% with BA, 23.6% with BOR, and 27.1% with EBFD.
