Abstract
This article examines the extent of compliance with Common Use Self-Service (CUSS) guidelines established by the International Air Transport Association, and highlights efforts at two airports to push the technology forward. CUSS kiosks permit passengers from several airlines to obtain boarding passes, reducing the amount of floor space required to serve passengers. Westchester County Airport, located near New York’s LaGuardia Airport, went live with four wireless CUSS kiosks, but after a few months, officials hardwired the kiosks after connectivity problems. It was one way to deal with extreme constraints on space on-site. Vancouver Airport passengers can make use of the 19 off-airport CUSS kiosks at hotels and airline offices
