Abstract
Societe de transport de Montreal (STM) is implementing a strategy to improve Montreal’s public transportation system and make it one of the best in the world. STM is currently the fourth-largest public transit organization in North America and features a bus network and an underground rail system. STM has been recognized for its excellence, and customer satisfaction is high, but officials are striving for even higher results. There are plans for a new fleet of subway cars, which will increase capacity and replace older cars. STM is working to increase bus ridership, especially among younger riders though the use of social media and mobile technology. STM receives significant funding from Quebec’s Minster of Transport and must make the case to politicians that planned transit initiatives are good for the economy and the city’s efforts towards sustainability.
