On peut déceler, entre la deuxième scène de l’acte I d’On ne badine pas avec l’amour et la scène 5 de l’acte II du Malade imaginaire, une parenté qui témoigne de la connaissance profonde qu’avait Musset des auteurs classiques. mais les différences qui séparent ces deux scènes sont elles aussi révélatrices et font apparaître, du classicisme au romantisme, une mutation du rire et du ridicule, que le sens romantique du sacré est venu transformer.
