Abstract
Les etudes systematiques de l'autoformation comme strategie de maintien et de developpement de ses competences a l'âge adulte ont clairement demontre qu'un individu place en situation d'autoformation n'est pas seul pour apprendre. Au contraire, sujet et environnement social sont en etroite interaction. En raison de la multiplicite des reseaux qui participent au processus d'autoformation, la notion meme de cite educative, au sens sociologique du terme, prend ainsi toute sa valeur. Cet article a pour objectif d'analyser le poids relatif de l'individu, de son environnement et du contexte sociopolitique dans lequel il s'inscrit, pour etudier les rapports actuels entre sujet(s) et societe(s) face a l'autoformation. Pour ce faire, les auteurs analysent les ecrits fondateurs de l'education des adultes dans lesquels la notion d'autonomie est souvent citee, ainsi que des principales productions de recherche sur l'auto formation, dans un regard croise franco-quebecois.
