Abstract
A Orissa, le BGKS (Bapuji Gramya Kalyan Samaj) est une organisation non politique ayant pour principaux objectifs un changement systematique de la situation sociale, un changement de la communaute et de l'education et la connaissance de la population. Suite a une epidemie de meningite et avec l'aide d'Oxfam - une organisation britannique charitable - le BGKS decida de faire prendre conscience des problemes sanitaires, d'organiser la population afin qu'elle revendique ses droits a un systeme sanitaire correspondant a ses besoins et decida de revivifier la connaissance sanitaire traditionnelle. L'education permet d'acquerir plus de pouvoir, plus d'independance, plus de democratie et plus de participation active de la population indigene
